While we attempt to keep our chatting as close to real life as possible, there are some terms from the books that have naturally seeped into our vocabulary.
Tal: A common form of greeting between free persons. While there are instances of slaves greeting the free using this word in the books, it is not to be used in the Dagger.
Master: A title by which slaves refer to all free males.
Mistress: The title by which slaves refer to all free women.
afk: An abbreviation for “Away From the Keyboard”. Therefore,
with proper grammar, the slaves begs to go afk.
Kajira: A female Gorean slave.
Kajirae: Two or more kajira.
Kajirus: A male Gorean slave.
Kajiri: Two or more kajirus.
Bondmaid: A slave owned by one from the land of Torvaldsland.
Speaking in Third Person: Slaves are required to speak in
third person for two reasons. First, it pleases the Free. Secondly, it forces the slave to stop and think, compelling the slave to remember their place.
White silk: A term for a slave who is a virgin. This has nothing to do with what she is wearing.
Red silk: A term for a slave who is not a virgin. This also has nothing to do with what she is wearing.
Collar: an item worn about the neck of a slave to denote she is owned.
Nadu: A position of kneeling where a slave drops to her knees, kneels back on her heels, her back straight, her hands on her thighs, her head up, her knees
spread widely.
Tower: Similar to Nadu but with the knees together.
“the furs”: A place where slaves kneel while waiting to serve.
Paga: A fermented brew concocted from the yellow grain, Sa-Tarna, and called Pagar-Sa-Tarna, but almost always “Paga” for short.
Blackwine: Gorean coffee.
Ka-la-na: A red, almost incandescent, bright, dry,
and powerful wine.
Kal-da: A hot drink, almost scalding, made of diluted Ka-la-na wine, mixed with citrus juices and stinging spices.
Bosk: A shaggy, long-haired wild ox of the Gorean plains.
Sleen: A six-legged, long-bodied mammalian carnivore, almost as much a snake as an animal and fully grown, some nineteen or twenty feet long.
Har ta: Hurry up.

Ahn: the Gorean hour, of which there are 20 in a Gorean day; it consists of 40 Ehn(minutes
Ehn: the Gorean minute, of which there are 40 in an Ahn (hour); it consists of 80 Ihn(seconds
Ihn: the Gorean second, of which there are 80 in an Ehn (minute)
Huda: 5 baskets constitutes a huda
Tefa: 6 such handfuls constitutes a tefa, these handfuls makes a tiny basket
Tef: A handful with the 5 fingers closed, not open

Ah-il: Approximately 18 inches
Ah-ral: 180 inches
Hort: 1 ¼ inches\
Pasang: Measure of distance equaling .7 miles

Stone: 4 pounds
Double-weight gold tarn disk: A gold tarn disk, twice as thick as the standard gold tarn disk. It is also the highest denomination of coinage.
Gold Tarn disk: A common unit of currency, the standard of which is minted in Ar
and is worth 10 silver tarsks.
Silver Tarsk: A coin worth 100 copper tarsks.
Copper Tarsk: A coin that is the whole coin of least value, equaling 10 tarsk bits.
Tarsk bit: A copper coin worth from 1/10 to 1/4 of a copper tarsk, depending on
the city which mints the coin.
